How we recruit

All our staff are recruited through advertising or word of mouth. All staff must have two references, a satisfactory PVG disclosure and complete a period of induction tailored to their own needs.

Our uniforms

Our nurses can be recognised by their royal blue tops. Our Team Leaders wear hospital blue tops while the Carers are in light purple. Kitchen staff wear light blue and the domestic team are in burgundy.

Our Board of Trustees are all volunteers, and like the staff, must also have two referees and a satisfactory PVG disclosure. The Board meets quarterly to consider and agree on the overall running of the home, the financial accounts, large items of expenditure, future plans etc. Extra meetings are held as required. Each Board member brings their own expertise depending on their background.

Some of the Board members are also part of our wonderful volunteer team, Friends of Viewlands House.

Our Board of Trustees

We are fortunate to have a lovely group of enthusiastic volunteers who do a great deal to add to the experience of living in Viewlands House.

The Friends of Viewlands House help with excursions; lay on special coffee mornings and afternoon teas with proper china teacups and home baking; provide a weekly trolley shop service for residents to purchase personal items and extra treats; ensure there are fresh flowers in the home; and provide an individual welcome to every new resident with a small gift and card.

The Friends also play a key role in fun events including garden parties, fetes and festive gatherings.

Our volunteers

Being a Friend of Viewlands House is a real privilege. Adding special moments to the residents’ days is a pleasure and it feels like the ladies and gentlemen really appreciate what we do
